Flimmer

Terms of use

Last updated 4 September 2026

Flimmer is a media player. It supplies no content, and what you connect it to is your responsibility.

What Flimmer is

Flimmer plays media from a server you configure, using credentials you already hold. It ships empty. It contains no channels, films, series, playlists or subscriptions; it does not host, index, aggregate, resell, recommend or search for content; and it is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to any content provider.

Your responsibility

You are responsible for ensuring you have the right to access whatever you point Flimmer at, and for complying with the law where you are. Flimmer does not encourage or condone streaming copyright-protected material without the rights holder's permission. If you are not sure your provider is authorised to distribute what it carries, that is a question for you and them, before you use this app.

Your account

An account exists so your library can follow you between devices when you opt into provider restore. If you leave restore off, the provider credential and random library namespace stay device-only and cannot be re-associated after a reinstall. Keep access to your email address; anyone who can read your email can sign in as you. You may delete your account at any time from Settings; once admitted, doing so erases your account data immediately. A concurrent operation on the same Apple authorization may ask you to retry before anything is erased. The privacy policy describes the bounded, encrypted Apple-revocation retry record that may remain temporarily.

What we do not promise

Flimmer is provided as-is. We cannot promise that any particular server, channel or title will work, because none of them are ours. We cannot promise uninterrupted service. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for loss arising from your use of the app, and nothing here limits rights you have as a consumer that cannot be limited.

Acceptable use

Do not use Flimmer to break the law, to attack a server, or to work around a provider's access controls. Do not try to disrupt our service or reach other people's accounts.

Open source

Flimmer includes VLCKit, distributed under the GNU Lesser General Public License v2.1, and GRDB under the MIT licence. Acknowledgements and links are in the app under Settings → About.

Changes and ending

We may update these terms; material changes will be surfaced in the app. You may stop using Flimmer whenever you like. We may suspend an account that is abusing the service.

Law

These terms are governed by Norwegian law.
